Lutz Fritsch was born 1955 in Cologne, Germany, where he still lives and works. He studied sculpture at the Academy of Arts Düsseldorf. He received the renowned “ars viva” Award of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) 1984 and the Leo-Breuer-Award of the LVR Bonn 2014, amongst others. Lutz Fritsch gives regular lectures and workshops at universities, museums and for companies. He was guest lecturer at the Academy of Arts Münster. He had numerous exhibitions in international museums, accompanied by publications, and furthermore conducts special projects in topics he is interested in, e.g. three expeditions of many months with scientists to the Arctic and Antarctic (1994–2005).

Lutz Fritsch is a well-known german artist for large-scale sculptures in public space. His sculptures are in many private collections as well as museums.

Since more than 30 years, Lutz Fritsch’s approach has been characterized by the both intuitive and analytic examination of line, color, surface and space in different media. His main interests are : what builds our space for living ? And which influence has color as focal “substance” in our society ? This finds expression in sculpture, drawing and photography. His minimalist view of the concrete turns it to abstraction.

2019 he started drawing small sculptures to be worn on the body.
2021 the first pieces in gold and silver found new collectors.
